Seán Hannan (1986, IE/NL) is an Amsterdam-based visual artist. His practice focuses on the intersection of unstable technologies and archival material, often collaborating with a broad array of professionals from different fields to consolidate and expand his multidisciplinary practice. Hannan is particularly interested in how forgotten histories, rituals, and mythologies; frequently resonating with (Irish) cultural memory, can echo into the future through hybrid, AI-inflected artworks.
His work has been exhibited internationally in museums, galleries and art spaces, through which he has contributed to contemporary dialogues around AI in art, memory, and the instability of truth in today’s information driven society. Recent projects span video, sound, installation and coded digital systems.
Hannan’s main research areas include artificial intelligence, media archaeology, and the cultural afterlife of myth and ritual. His work often draws from archival fragments, speculative information, and the use of technological systems to reflect on how narratives are preserved, distorted, or lost over time.
